Horse: Poppy - 11 yo, grey TB x warmblood - 16.1 hh

Poppy came to flatwork schooling later in life than some horses having only been hacked and hunted by her previous owner. But she has the paces and temperament to succeed at preliminary and novice dressage and has been working with Sally for a few months now to establish her flatwork, with a view to competing in the spring.

Her flat withers made her a saddle fitting challenge and Sally turned to Barnsby for a bespoke saddle after a few "false starts" with other brands. She, like Poppy, has been bitten with the dressage bug rather late in life having been a "happy hacker" for many years. As such, she was looking for a well fitting saddle which allows her to ride Poppy's big paces safely and comfortably, giving her all the support and confidence she needed to allow her to concentrate on her own technique.

Sally said..."My previous horse was a Welsh cob, so Poppy's warmblood paces proved challenging to say the least. I was looking for a dressage saddle which provided me with as much support and balance as possible to allow me to work with Poppy to develop both her, and my own abilities, and made a few expensive mistakes along the way! I had bought three dressage saddles in less than a year - which might be something of a record.

Then my friends recommended Barnsby. Poppy's shape meant that James made three visits to get the fit he was completely happy with. But this willingness to understand my issues and go the extra mile to get a saddle which works well for us both has resulted in increased confidence from me and better performance from Poppy. We've never looked back." Sally Thearle
