With straighter flap than an all purpose and new soft seat the VSD is an excellent saddle for dressage or flat work. Ideal for young horses where a slightly more angled knee position gives the rider additional security and the seat design means the rider's weight is less concentrated, freeing the horse's back.
Built on an open headed dressage tree the saddle has a deeper seat than an all purpose model, adding to rider security whilst the rider's knee is supported with a straight cut kneeblock. The seat itself is cushioned with super soft, high density Dunlopillo foam. The broad bearing surface panel is wool flocked and the girth arrangement includes an additional point strap to increase girthing options.

Teddy is a one off! Not tall at 16.2hh, everything else about him is Big with a capital B: he's the horse which has re-written saddlery size charts. As such, Jane took the decision to have all of his tack made to measure. The bespoke service offered by Barnsby proved perfect for their needs. Items made to measure include his bridle with its 30" plus noseband, extra long cheeks and browband, and his 64" girth which is elasticated at both ends and padded with sheepskin to allow Teddy to move in comfort. . Teddy is short coupled and has the massive shoulders and flat back typical of many draught breeds. Getting a saddle to fit was a construction challenge, needing a specially designed and built tree and a special seat to accommodate the rider. The saddle needed to allow Teddy space to move through his shoulders and provide Jane with a secure base for hacking, flat work and jumping. His bridle was also bespoke to accommodate his wide brow and jaw. This was the second time Jane has called on Barnsby for help with saddle fitting issues. Her previous horse - a big boned and big moving warm blood - was also fitted with a made to measure jumping saddle. The service she received then, meant that Jane had every confidence in Barnsby's ability to fit Teddy up with comfortable, well made and correctly fitting tack. "I've received really great service from Barnsby on both occasions I've dealt with them. Although my previous horse wasn't such a difficult shape, the service I received last year gave me the confidence to ask them to help with Teddy's special needs. They certainly rose to this saddlery challenge! James went to huge amount of trouble to get Teddy into well fitting tack, happily making numerous return visits to check and correct the fit. The result is beautifully built tack which looks great but - more importantly - allows him to work well in comfort. This has given me the confidence to really explore his potential. We are both now benefitting from all the effort, sound advice and attention to detail which Barnsby put in."
