Maher's magical double in Florida

Barnsby sponsored rider, twenty five year-old Ben Maher from Elsenham in Hertfordshire produced two magical clear rounds in the FEI Nations Cup presented by CN in Wellington, Florida recently.

Ben riding Daniel Paul’s ten year-old bay mare Rolette was the last of the British quartet to go, and ended up being one of only two combinations in the entire competition to jump double clear rounds.

The British team finished in fifth place; team pathfinder Peter Charles riding Olga White and Team Murka Ltd’s, Murka’s Pom d’Ami finished with just one fence down in the first round and nine penalties in the second. Nick Skelton and Laura Kraut’s Le Prestige St Lois were second to go and finished with eighteen penalties and fifteen in the second. Twenty one year-old Charlotte Platt riding her own bay mare Lacanda jumped for nine penalties in the first round and thirteen in the second.

It was a home victory for the American Team finishing on a total score of nine penalties, Canada took second place, Eric Lamaze riding Hickstead jumping the only other double clear round of the competition, and Mexico finished in third spot.
